Guess Who’s Back?

The Lobster Roll, LUNCH
One thing the Hamptons does and does really well is lobster rolls and The Lobster Roll also known as LUNCH has it down to a science. Since 1965, this retro-style seafood shack has brought mouth-watering lobster rolls to East End visitors. Starting tomorrow, April 28th, its Amagansett location will officially be open for business. If you simply can’t wait the 24 hours, they have another location already open in Southhampton. But to be honest, I’m a sucker for an opening day. The Lobster Roll has something for everyone, if you’re not a seafood person (which is a highly questionable trait - especially in the Hamptons) from steak to chowders to hot dogs.
And because who doesn’t love a little name drop, The Lobster Roll’s clientele has included James Franco, Scarlett Johansson, Barbara Streisand, Alec Baldwin, and countless more famous faces. If you can’t make it out to either of their locations, not to worry! You can actually purchase one of their lobster roll-making kits which they ship nationwide. The kits are equipped with everything you need to make one of LUNCH’s famous lobster rolls and you don’t even need to leave your house. To purchase a kit, click HERE.

Front Row Beach Parking

Out East
The only logical answer to what to do when the temperature starts to rise is to grab a towel and hit the beach, but as residents know and visitors find out, the parking situation in the Hamptons can be a little complicated. In an effort to create more beach parking, the Southhampton Town Board has proposed a pilot project for the upcoming season. This pilot project allows no more than 30 vehicles to drive onto the beach and park in an area 75 feet in each direction from the centerline of Triton Lane in East Quogue. The proposed program would be open for 15 Sundays and two federal holidays. There was a public town hearing this past Tuesday where residents weighed in on the conversation. Of course, there were both supporters and opponents present. So much so that there will be a second hearing on May 9th to continue the conversation.

Greenport in Full Bloom

North Forker
One of the best things that comes along with Spring is the cherry blossom trees. And every Spring, Greenport has a whole month to celebrate them! Saturday, April 29th, marks the beginning of Greenport’s Cherry Blossom Festival, which is put on by the AgroCouncil. During this month, you can pick up a Cherry Blossom Map from the AgroCouncil headquarters or any participating restaurant or shop to tour the 300 cherry blossom trees that line the streets of Greenport. Participating local businesses even have cherry blossom-inspired appetizers, cocktails, and gifts. Although the official start date is May 1st, the AgroCouncil is hosting a Run for the Petals 5k to kick off the festival. This charity 5k fundraises for Greenport’s non-profits including AgroCouncil, Greenport BID, and the Greenport Village Tree all of which have the goal of protecting, planting, and growing more cherry blossom trees in the years to come. Pre-registration for the 5k is $30 and includes a t-shirt, however, you can still sign up on race day for $35. To sign up for the 5k, click HERE.
